Peter Coker
Chief Executive OFFICER / Managing Director

Peter Coker joined Martin Aircraft Company as CEO in April 2013. A former senior officer in the Royal Air Force, he has amassed over 5,000 flying hours and was a qualified flying and weapons instructor with substantial policy and procurement experience. He commanded both a squadron and station. More recently, Peter was General Manager of Lockheed Martin (NZ) and Business Development Director for Asia Pacific for a Lockheed Martin Business Unit.

Peter has served as a Director on Boards and is a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and The Honourable Company of Air Pilots.


James West
Chief Financial Officer

James is a qualified Chartered Accountant and brings an immense amount of experience to the Company having worked as Financial Controller and Operations Manager through to CEO/CFO in other organisations from small to large companies.   



Simon Topping
VP Design Engineering

Martin Aircraft Company is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Topping as VP Design Engineering. Simon has been acting in the role of Head of Design Engineering since mid December and takes on this newly renamed position with immediate effect. Simon brings to the role tremendous experience in the aerospace industry gained while working at Airbus Operations Ltd in the UK, first as the lead engineer for composite structures and later as systems installation lead and finally as Head of A320neo Wing Systems Installation & Flight Test Instrumentation. More recently as Programme Manager at Smiths Detection, Australia, Simon was solely responsible for managing and delivering all security screening equipment to each of the G20 events throughout Australia, including the Leaders’ Summit in Brisbane. Simon holds a MEng (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester.   



Michael Tournier
VP Sales and Marketing

Michael has a strong international background and experience in sales and marketing having worked as General/Regional Manager - Asia Pacific for Air Charter International and as International Marketing Manager for Airways International.

More recently, Michael worked as General Manager Europe for Climate Friendly UK Limited where he successfully led several multinational bid teams in multi-million dollar procurement processes to secure major high value clients.



Mike Read
VP Flight Operations

Mike is a former Australian Air Force pilot, serving most recently as a Captain on the Airbus A330 MRTT. He has substantial experience in bringing aircraft into service along with considerable knowledge of aircraft regulatory environments around the world. Mike is also highly qualified in Flight Simulation and has experience in the certification process of Full Flight Simulators, pivotal for training and pilot licencing. He holds an Airline Transport Pilots Licence, a Bachelor of Science, and is an Upper Freeman in the Honourable Company of Air Pilots.



Ben Taylor
VP Programme and Business Excellence

Ben has a wide range of international business experience, having worked for Toyota Manufacturing in the UK and in various consulting roles within Airbus Europe, leading the introduction of their Lean programme. Since moving to New Zealand he has held a variety of management roles with Fonterra and JUCY group.
