Jon Mayson, Chairman of the Board
Jon Mayson is a former Chair of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and is a companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the shipping industry and export sector. Jon is highly respected in the business sector for his leadership, particularly his focus on business growth and innovation.
The former CEO of the Port of Tauranga, Jon holds a number of Chair positions and has an impressive record of directorships with both public and private businesses, from the state sector through to the commercial sector, from small to large.
Glenn Martin, Founding Director and Inventor of Martin Jetpack
In 1981 Glenn developed the concept of the Martin Jetpack. A research and development programme spanning almost 30 years has successfully proven the original engineering concept with the achievement of successful personal flight. He has held sales and marketing positions in the pharmaceutical industry and has a proven record of commercialisation of original products in the biotechnology industry. Glenn continues in a founder's role in the company with an outwards focus on customers and investors.
Peter Coker, Chief Executive and Managing Director
Peter Coker joined Martin Aircraft Company as CEO in April 2013. A former senior officer in the Royal Air Force, he has amassed over 5,000 flying hours and was a qualified flying and weapons instructor with substantial policy and procurement experience. He commanded both a squadron and station. More recently, Peter was General Manager of Lockheed Martin (NZ) and Business Development Director for Asia Pacific for a Lockheed Martin Business Unit.
Peter has served as a Director on Boards and is a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and The Honourable Company of Air Pilots.
Jenny Morel, Director
Jenny is the founder and Managing Partner of No 8 Ventures Management, which invests in taking New Zealand technology companies to the world. She is also the founder of the Morgo annual conference for entrepreneurs. In 2006 Jenny was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business. For No 8 Ventures, she is also Chairman of Surveylab and Rex Bionics and director of Open Cloud Ltd.
John Diddams, Director
John has over 40 years of financial and management experience as CFO, CEO and director of both private and public listed companies. John is the principal of a CPA firm that provides corporate advisory services to SME and mid-cap companies including management of the process to raise equity capital, manage due diligence and list on the Australia Stock Exchange.
Steve Bayliss, Director
Steve joined the board of Martin Aircraft Company in January 2011 and brings strong marketing expertise. He was recently General Manager, Marketing for Air New Zealand. During his 6 year tenure the airline went from the aftermath of a near bankruptcy to the Best Airline in the World - as judged by Air Transport World. Air New Zealand also became the most awarded marketing group in New Zealand. Steve previously held senior positions with international brewer Lion Nathan and with Coca Cola. Steve now runs his own consultancy business, Branded Culture.
DR LIU RUOPENG
Dr. Liu, aged 31, is the founder of Kuang-Chi. Dr. Liu has been the president of Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology, a private not-for-profit research organisation established in Kuang-Chi's group which is focused in science research since 2010. Dr. Liu is currently the chairman and executive director of KuangChi Science Limited, a Bermuda company listed in The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock code: 00439). Dr. Liu is a member of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Youth Federation, is the Vice Chairman of Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce since 2012 and is the Vice President of Shenzhen Youth Chamber of Commerce since 2013. He has also been a member of the First Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Consulting Committee for Authority since 2014. Dr. Liu was awarded "4th May Youth Excellence Award in China" in 2014 and awarded "Guangdong News-Focus People Top 10" in 2011. Dr. Liu was awarded a master's degree and a doctorate degree in electrical and computer engineering by Duke University, U.S.A. in 2009 and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering by Zhejiang University, China in 2006.
Dr Zhang Yangyang
Dr. Zhang, aged 35, is a member of Kuang-Chi’s founding team. Dr. Zhang has been the executive vice president of Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology since 2010. Dr. Zhang is currently the chief executive officer and executive director of KuangChi Science Limited, a Bermuda company listed in The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock code: 00439) Dr. Zhang has been the Vice President of Shenzhen Young Science and Technology Talents Association since 2012. Dr. Zhang was awarded a doctorate degree by the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, United Kingdom in 2008, and a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree by the Department of Electronic Engineering, Northeastern University, Shenyang, China in 2004 and 2002 respectively.
